  1. I am an owner of 800dvx and 300pdvx. Both are from RJ and I had to replace both of them twice until I got working units. The same applies to a couple of people I've talked regarding these players because they've been having exactly the same problems.
However, after all replacements and money spent shipping them back and forth, I was happy for 3 months until few hours ago. My 800 has just died for no apparent reason. First, it wouldn't take any disks, then it shut off and never came back on.
I did some research and found out that these players die as crazy as soon as they hit 3 months or so, and many people have problems with any model RJ Tech releases. I am afraid that my portable 350 will have this fate.
Can something be done? Don't we have customer protection? I feel victimized and robbed out of my hard earned money. Being their supporter by giving them a break and forgiving terrible quality control for the sake of the end result, now I am sorry that I've dealt with them in the first place. It has gone too far. Seemingly promising products with great features have turned out to be a hell.

Would anyone want to share their bad experiences? May be we could submit it to RJ people and make them accountable.

Is RJ Tech a DVD manufacturer(like Apex, JVC etc etc) or a retailer?

  4. Well, I called RJ Tech and told them how upset I was. They said they were going to replace it for me by testing a new player before sending it out. They are also sending me a shipping label. Therefore, this time I don't need to pay anything for the shipment.
At least, that is a good news. At the same time I'm still interested in speaking to people who have ran into performance problems.
Quite frankly, it is a great product for features and price but they need to do something about the emormous amount of defective players.

  5. The fact that their tech support is even responding /helping is a big plus in the face of all these issues.
Unfortunately, the only way to find out if low$$ players work as advertised is either read up on them in forums such as this, or buy one & see. I had similar issues with my Norcent player a few years back, took an Act of God to get tech support's attention. So you are lucky in that respect.

  7. How did you solve the problem?

  8. My 1st 1500dvx2 died a horrible death when I tried to upgrade the firmware. Luckily it was only a day old and the store I bought it replaced it. Now about 4 mos later I tried with a newer version of firmware, and it's buggerd up this player too.

Not so bad that it won't turn on, and it still plays fine for about 45min; then the video and sound start to stutter and skip. Basically it becomes unwatchable.

RJ's solution is to ship the player back to California plus include a 30 dollar money order for return shipping back to Surrey BC. I dunno a whole new player is only 100 bucks. Factor in shipping two ways and down time maybe I'll just go buy another one. And if I ever get the bright idea to upgrade the blasted firmware again I'll just stick my hands in my pockets....if ya know what I mean!!!! :P

Along with some other things I could nit-pick about; I love being able to play Divx movies with out making red book style DVD's, but I don't know if I'm gonna buy RJ Tech again.

Anyone with a 1500dvxII do not upgrade the firmware

  9. I had very pleasant experience with RJTech DVD players. I used to be an owner of RJ-4000 and I recently purchased 800DVX as a birthday gift to my relative. So far 800DVX works fine with no problems whatsoever. I feel sorry for you if you've got a bad apple.
