Nero has a Video_TS and Audio_TS folders. I have burned a DVD without using the Audio_TS and get a playable DVD. What is the purpose of the Audio_TS folder?

    Thanks

audio_ts is/was supposed to be used for dvd audio.. you dont really have to have the audio_ts folder, but it doesnt hurt at all.. some people believe it makes the dvd more compatible.. i drop it in for the heck of it.. there are some hollywood movies that dont even include the audio_ts folder, so i really think its not that big of a deal.

Its mainly for compatibility with older dvd players. Newer dvd players will generally play fine without an AUDIO_TS folder.

As lumis states, its for dvd audio, nothing to do with dvd video, which is a high resolution audio format in 24 bit/192kHz stereo and 24 bit/96kHz 5.1 surround. A dvd audio compatibale player would be needed to play the format as most dvd players do not support the format.

honestly, i dont think it adds any compatibility, even for older dvd players.. if so the hollywood dvd manufacturers would make sure it was on every dvd, which it is not.. i cant name names, but if you've ripped enough dvd's you'll have come across a few that dont have the audio_ts folder.. i still add the folder, but i dont think it makes a lick of difference.
