Yesterday i was watching "Below" on the tv and to my surprise i jumped a couple of times during it.
My question is: what film made you "jump"?
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276816/

rememember the Bruce Banner shaving and while looking at the mirror the Hulk smashs it and grabs him? this is what i mean.

  2. That dead German whispering from inside the
    body bag was spooky

The Innocents (orig.) made me hit the ceiling. The dead boy turning to show half his head missing in The
Sixth Sense was a jumper and a half!

Anyone recall the bit in The Twilight Zone:The Movie, "do you want to see something REALLY scary?"

I suppose my favorite is the cat in Alien.

  3. White Noise had a couple of tense moments in it. I jumped when he was leaning slowly towards the TV and suddenly BAM! The thing inside screams and hits the glass...

Saw it in the cinema - they had the bass up so loud you could feel the thump in your chest when something shocking happened.

  4. Jaws - that bloody severed head gets me everytime.

I may have to watch the Grudge (original) again to see if has any jump worth bits, I remembr it being bloody scary.

    Hi,

Can't really say since horror isn't really a category I watch much.

The first time I saw Jurassic Park , at a special screening with a really juiced up sound system ...

When the goat landed on the windshield is a really fine moment in cinema sound (plus the foot steps leading up to that scene are some great subbass)

Grudge also had some fine moments ..

The last movie that really made me jump (in a number of scenes) was The Exorcist when it first came out. I'd previously read the book and knew, going into the theater, that the film was based on a true story. After seeing the film, I couldn't turn out my lights that night.

FWIW, years later, I rented the film. My kid, who'd seen every Halloween flick, had never seen it before and figured it was doddle. But as the film progressed, he started hiding his eyes (grin).

I think Star Wars movies fit in that category, they certainly horrify me.

A good one I can think of is when Nicholson smashes through the door with the axe in the shining.

Hehe. Funny story. When my ex-wife was pregnant with our son, she asked me to take her out to see a film. So, I took her to see Poltergeist. When the scene came up where the guy becomes fearful of his wife's safety and pulls on the rope that extends into a closet, a big demon face comes out of the closet and growls at him. At that moment, my ex jumped up from her seat and screamed ... and everyone in the theater started giggling. She was mightily embarrassed and slinked back into her seat.

    Me too.
My wife, who had never seen this, got herself hooked on Stephen King, so I had to get this one for her to watch.
She peed herself when the hand popped up.

A few scenes from The Mothman Prophecies made me jump:

when he rolls over in bead to find his dead wife of two years,

the telephone conversation with Indrid Cold..... 'in your shoe....'

the reflection in the wardroab door mirror when he closes it,

even the artwork is quite scary.........
    Regards,

I hated The Grudge. It was laughable to me.

When the chick got hit by the bus in Final Destination was a jump point.

When Dana is floating above the bed in Ghostbusters and it gets very quiet and she "barks" all of a sudden is a jump point.

    Hi,

Another favorite "jump" point is in Ghostbusters 2 when their in the train tunnel. They're echoing shouts and when Winstons comes back with a ghost shouting his name they start back out - then they turn around and a few dozen heads are floating around them. I know not very deep but the first time you watch it it gets you especially for an 80's PG movie.

  24. I don't know whether this qualifies for "jump" (more like "squirm") but how about the film "Marathon Man" where Dustin Hoffman is sat in the dentist's chair!!!!!

    "Is it safe ?"

    Alot of good mentions here.

One that creeped me out was in The Ring after she climbs through the tv and is walking toward the guy and all of a sudden she walks in fast-forward.
