I have an avi file and want to cut a part of it and save this part as new avi. I am using virtualdub-mp3.
The problem is that first virtualdub could not open the file, I then installed divx6. Now it opens the file but the following message appears: virtualdub has reconstructed the index for this file, but you have not specified rekeying in the extended open options dialog. Seeking in this file may be slow.
And it is extremely slow till the point where all freezes and I must terminate the programme. I have run divfix first but there were no errors reported. I couldn't find anything with the search.
The file info says (amongst others): number of keyframes: 0
I add the screenshot.
Can someone pls. help me here?

Well, I would try firstly to analyse the file in Gspot and if it is not divx, will uninstall divx6 and install the last Koepi xvid build.
Next I would try to rekey the file as suggested by VDub (I don't know now how to do it, but I would try to do it).
If everything fail, I woud try to open and cut the part I want with avidemu 2.
If this fail also, I would try to search the tools section in the forum for any other tool that can cut avis.
