Hi there.
First sory for my bad english.I have the following problem:there are 2 DVDs splited from DVD9 by DVD-Fab and i want to recompress video stream and fit the movie to one DVD5 while keeping menu finctionality.Menu is on the first disk and the chapters from disk 2 link to screen that say ,,Please insert disk 2" or something.
So i rename VOB files from disk 2 to consecutive to those in disk 1 numbers and copy them in directory of disk 1.Then i extract video and audio streams with PGCDemux and subtitles with SubRip in text format (i try to use them as bitmaps but i have many troubles with subtitle colors (copy colors don't help at all) and i find more healhty spending some time to convert them to text format) so now i have fully synchronised audio and subtitles. Then i recompress video to desire size with TMPGEnc Xpress.Because i don't want to deal with modifying by DVD-Fab Ifo's (there is no way to find the exact time of chapters from disk 2), i found the original Ifo's from DVD9 versions of the movie (it's Alexander by the way). The menu VOB's are the same so i copy them from modifying version. Then i copy sell times from original IFO with IfoEdit and remux new video m2v with audio and subtitles with DVD-lab.I also import celltimes as chapters in DVD-lab and let the program to place them on the right places, depending on new frame stucture. Now i have fully functional DVD structure, but no menus.
Here is the hard part - i cut off new created from DVD-lab IFO's and BUP's in other directory and copy to directory of remuxed VOB's menu VOB's from disk 1 and original IFO and BUP files from DVD9 version.I copy subtitles colors from DVD-lab IFO and paste them to original IFO in this directory so now i have correct colors.Because Playback time (BCD) in original and newly created by DVD-lab IFO is diferent only first 7 chapters of 18 works and they start in diferent positions. So i open in IfoEdit VTS_01_0.IFO created by DVD-lab and VTS_01_0.IFO from remuxed VOB's directory and copy from DVD-lab IFO - VTS_PGC_1 all cells ,,playback times", ,,entry point sectors", ,,start sector of last VOBU" and ,,last sector of this cell" in BCD and paste the values to corresponding cells in original IFO.Now chapters are ok and start in the right posisions calculated by DVD-lab that are almost the same as the original positions and everything sims to be ok.
BUT as everything work in WinDVD (menu, chapters etc) when i try to move slider it reach to about middle and movie stop.I see everything from movie from the beginning to end credits and i don't think this will be a problem during playback even in standalone DVD player but it just nervous me.I think the problem is that on the DVD9 version there are eight VOB files while on my recompres version there are five. And when i open modifyed by me IFO in PGCEdit it say: ,,Error loading NAV pack from VTS_01_1.VOB at sector <somewhere in the beginning> and at sector <at the end>.So my question is how can i deal with this NAV pack error and eventualy how to edit number of VOB files in IFO to avoid this playback problem? And at last is there will be some problem with playback in standalone DVD if i don't fix this?

Thank's a lot for your reply, but i already try this.I am not sure do i was point ,,Correct original IFO files", so i will try it again. The result was that VOB/Cell ID 2 was removed and half of chapters that corespond to this ID too and the movie was with half duration.I hope if Correct original IFO files do better work.
There is another issue - when i record such files into DVD Video by Nero it report some reallocation error (if i remember well).I ignore this error and there is no problem whit recording.I also try this DVD on stand alone player and there was no problem - everithing work as it should do.But for better compatability i hope there is a way to correct this error. Thanks again for the advice. -
You can ignore this error. Nero complains when some of your VOB files are very small (or have a 0kB size). It does not affect the burn or make the DVD non compliant, as far as I know..
