i have an avi of an old ww2 movie(1966) that i'm trying to convert to DVD.

i have converted it twice(TMPG), but i only get the video and no audio. the avi is AC3, and Gspot tells me i have 5 compatible codecs installed.

i'm at a loss with this

    thanks in advance

Strip out the original audio (an AVI can have AC3 audio??), and put them both on an authoring program timeline. IF YOU DIDN'T TRIM THE VIDEO, everything should be in sync.

sorry, guess i should have mentioned that after i converted to DVD with TMPGenc, i used TMPG to author, still no dice

TMPG DVD Author has a timeline?

  4. Actually TMpegEnc cannot handle AC3 stream of audio. So what I do is to demux the AC3 audio in VirtuaDub and then feed in audio and video to the authoring program. I have just test-used TMpegEnc's DVD authoring program so I do not remember if there is a timeline of some sort but you should be able to insert the AC3 audio stream as an asset.
    Good luck
