Burning dvd using DVD/CD-RW

Can I burn a dvd using a dvd/cd-rw burner? If so, are there guides or can someone instruct me as to how it can be done?

You can burn with a DVD Writer.You can choose what software you want for burning.DVDDecrypter can rip and burn,Nero Burning ROM burns ect...
TMPGEnc encodes to MPEG2 which you can then load into TMPGEnc DVD Author which makes compliant DVD files and also burns.

I know and have done all of that. Playing with a laptop and only have a drive that has a dvd player and cd writer rom. I wanting to know if I can use this to record a dvd file saved to the hardrive.

You cant burn a DVD with a cd-rw writer you need a DVD Writer.
