I have an LGR435 DVD recorder, with which I have been converting my camcorder movies to DVD. It lets me make DVDs on either DVD-R or DVD+R, but the latter has the advantage that it has nicer menus with thumbnails. My other two DVD players in the house have no problem playing either kind.

Recently, I have been trying to make extra copies on my computer to share with friends. I have no problem copying ones that I made originally as DVD-R. However, it always fails when I try to copy a DVD+R.

I have tried both Sonic and Nero, with an LG-4163 and BenQ DW822A DVD writer (Windows XP, 512mb RAM, 2.4ghz pentium), used externally connected with USB2.

One difference I notice, which might explain the problem, is that on DVD-R, each title is a separate VOB file, so they don't get too big. On DVD+R, no matter how many titles I make, the VOB files are all 1gb in size. However, it always starts to write the copies, and fails when it is about 80% completed, so it usually succeeds in writing at least two of the 1gb files. If it simply refused to start, I could half understand it. But it starts as if everything was going to be OK, and then just stalls near the end.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to overcome this problem.

I have been using the DVD writer externally through USB 2. Might it work better if I installed it in the computer?

use DVD DECRYPTER...use ISO READ MODE....then use ISO WRITE MODE to burn on a disc...i suspect it could be a media problem with the DVD+R......what is the MEDIA CODE on those DVD+R? use DVDINFO PRO or DVD IDENTIFER to fine the media code.

Thanks, but I tried two different media, including the same one that the original disc is on, and these same media work fine when I make copies of a DVD-R.
