I am quite concerned about the job market nowadays. It seems that more and more companies here in the states are putting alot of people out of work in order to move their operations to places where labor is cheaper. I would guess that American workers cost too much in terms of wages and benefits in order to warrant trying to make a decent living and surviving.
A Michigan newspaper I was reading mentioned of yet another plant planning to close down pretty soon and laying off several thousand workers. This worries me. I guess we cost too much to survive here in the states if so many plants want to take their plants to places where they pay little to almost nothing for labor and such.
That's why it pains me why so many banks and car dealerships still try to coax people to buy houses and cars and yet alot of people can't even survive heavy layoffs and being put out of work. It just doesnt make sense. And most low-wage jobs these days is not enough to deal with high prices, especially fuel which continues to goes up all the time. Its sad that it takes $33 to fill up my car which holds 14 gallons.....and my car is a 4-cylinder. And alot of the low-end job hardly pay enough just to keep gas in the tank and other annoying bills that just keeps coming infinitely every month.
I have a bad feeling that things are going to get much worse if this trend keeps up.![]()

This is on the edge of being political, but I try to buy American every chance I get. Mostly clothes and tools. It is harder to do than you may think. Bigger ticket items like washers and dryers are easier to find, but only a one time purchase. And there is no proof that all of any product is 100% made in the USA. I have pretty much given up on preaching to the choir, it is to hard to convince people how important it is to keep the money in there own comunity. I am no angel either, every auto that I have owned has been American made until I bought a Dodge Intrepid (I never even thought to check, I just assumed) I will not claim that everything American is the best, just that I think it is best to buy American for my comunity.
It boils down to greed and ignorance for both the companies and the consumers.
Just to let any non-Americans know, I feel that you should be buying your countrys' products first too. I have more respect for someone that has some national pride than I do for those that don't.
Oh well, I think I am loosing the choir too.IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
Makes alot of sense. I brought up this thread because I feel some topics can be discussed without any politics being involved. I dont like nor care for that stuff so I wanted to talk about something that relates to the job market only. I just hope that down the line things improve for the sake of jobs and employment because I know alot of times many people who always have to struggle, seems to have to do that for the rest of their lives with not much hope in living/enjoying a better life for themselves.

It's all about worldwidw wage leveling. Seems that we have priced ourselves out fo the market, but I can't discuss the details without going into politics so please start a thread on Politic site.
