I have the 1.25 ghz eMac with a DVR-107d Superdrive. Shortly after I bought it I used the Flashit kit to upgrade the firmware to 1.18. Is 1.18 still current? What are the advantages to the current firmware? I found version 1.21 on the Pioneer site but i'm not sure if that is the right firmware for my drive. Is there an updated Flashit kit for 1.21? I can't remember where I downloaded the 1.18 kit from.
I'm scared to flash my drive with "hacked" firmware, should I be?
Thanks
djhep

I found the current Flashit/DVRFlash and firmware version 1.21. I'm nervous whether 1.21 is the most current "official" firmware. What would be the advantages to flashing with most current "hacked" firmware. Where would I find it?
Someone please help me out.
Thanks,
djhep

As long as you have the latest Flashit/DVRFlash.
Which you can get here:
http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=30235
Go to the official Pioneer site:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/article/0,,2076_4273_128163990,00.html
Download the link called "DVR107D_FW121.exe" for the 107D
Drop that .exe file on Stiffit Expander. Once the zip archive is extraced (that's what the exe really is) use the file called "R7100107.121" with Flashit_kit to upgrade your drive.
This way you are 100% certain you've got the official firmware. That firmware shlould be the last one ever made for the 107 so it probably a good thing to do. It's been working fine for me since it's release a good while ago.
Good luck, and read everything :O)

Sorry I'm late. I successfully upgraded DVD-107D firmware to 1.21 in my wife's eMac several months ago, as described here:

The .exe firmware package from Pioneer is just a self extracting zip file. You can open it with StuffIt. The release notes for the firmware tell you what the changes are, so you can read that and decide if you want to upgrade.
