  1. In case you haven't spotted my signature yet, I'm a big Joss Whedon fan. His ill-fated TV series "Firefly" is about to experience a rebirth with next spring's release of "Serenity". If successful, it will be the beginning of a trilogy. Contract terms do not allow for a return of the television series at this time.

The Universal Pictures® official site for "Serenity" is now up, which has a production Blog, chat, message forum, and other points of interest. You can check it out here:

T-shirts, hats, and posters will be available soon.

Awesome. I loved Firefly, and I can't wait for the movie to come out. I hope it does really well and they bring the show back. Or make more movies, which is apparently what Joss Whedon is going to do if the movie is a success.

If you're renting from Netflix, try to make sure you watch them in order. Half of FOX's problem was that they disrupted Joss' planned order for the episodes and aired the Pilot last. Just a recommendation...

I've heard that possibly by the time a trilogy is completed, the series can have another go, but I think that's hopeful speculation on the fans' part.

Yeah, it's shiny! Several members of the old FOX official fan message board got parts as extras for the flick... they're filming right now at Universal Studios.

"Serenity" is the pilot. fox didn't like it and had Joss Whedon make another episode to be the pilot, Which is what "the train job" is. On the dvd release "Serenity" is the first episode, so it should be the first episode on the disc you have.

hmm, the UK release is this one here
    http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=150418
episodes listed as "The Train Job, Bushwhacked, Our Mrs. Reynolds, Out of Gas, Shindig, Safe, Ariel, War Stories, Objects in Space, Serenity (Part 1), Serenity (Part 2), Heart of Gold, Trash, The Message"
which looks like the same order as broadcast dates. suppose that means i should rent disc 3 before disc 1.

That was how it was aired on FOX, but that is not the "intended" order. The original pilot was actually aired last, which is Serenity parts 1 and 2.

Edited to add: After reading your second post in the thread, yes. They must have released in a different order overseas... odd. My US set has them in the following order:

Serenity 1&2, The Train Job, Bushwhacked, Shindig, Safe, Our Mrs. Reynolds, Jaynestown, Out of Gas (my fave), Ariel, War Stories, Trash (never aired), The Message(never aired), Heart of Gold(never aired), Objects in Space

    Thread necromancy!

About halfway through this show, my odd work hours keep me from watching much TV.

Damn this show ruled, very unfair to cancel it.

I didn't think the show was as great as some, but I genuinely hope that the film is successful. I'd love to see Joss have a prolific film career too. I'm curious as to who he's going to cast as Wonder Woman.
