I have a ricoh dvd drive that can't read dvd_vr format disc that I record from my dvd recorder I want to buy a new drive I hear that Plextor supports dvd_vr format i want to make copies of my recorded dvd_vr's but ny drive does not read this format please help guys.

Have you finalised the disc ? If not try finalising it, then maybe your drive will read the disc.
Are you able to see the files on your discs using windows explorer ?
If so I dont believe you need a new drive but instead you may need to convert your DVD_VR discs to VOB format.
The DVD_VR discs are written in a VRO format which many DVD players do not recognise unless they are recorders.
You need to convert the VRO files to VOB format for other DVD players to be able to read them.
Instead of recording in the VR format you could use the VIDEO format which will write the discs in a VOB format so you dont have to convert them at a later time, this way you can copy them without any problems.
Do a SEARCH on VRO and you will see there are several posts about this subject.
I know this because I recently discovered this when trying to copy some of my recorded discs in the DVD_VR format.
