I'm in the process of transferring all our old vhs tapes to dvd.
The dvd recorder is a Liteon5045, which is doing an okay job, considering the price.
My main problem is the loud hiss I get with quite a few of the old tapes.
Doing a head cleaning on the vcr, and even trying out a couple of brand new vcrs has made no difference, and I was wondering if there is some kind of filtering device I could put between the vcr and recorder to make the audio a bit clearer.
Preferably something affordable
I'd appreciate some advice!

What you need is a stereo graphic EQ between the VCR and recorder. You would use that to take out or reduce the high frequencies to get rid of the hiss.
