Hi all,
I think it's time for me to get a new video card. I currently have GF TI4600. It's a good card and I can still run most games at medium to high except for battlefield 2 which I can't run at all because ti cards don't support some kind of shader. When I bought ti4600 two years ago, I knew about all the cards out but now it seems like there so many of them. I read on cnet.com that Radeon X800XL is the best for the buck. I am willing to spend about $300. Should I get the Radeon X800XL or ........?
Thanks

The latest Maximum PC mag concurs with your assessment. For $300, you really can't get much better than the XL. Go for it!
Your base? Well, they belong to me now... -
I just saw an AGP version of the 6800 for $156 at NewEgg, that'd be a much cheaper option of a nearly equivalent card. EA was pushing nVidia cards for BF2 so perhaps keep that in mind as well.
FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
9800 pro is pretty cheap these days, i have the aiw and it will play bf2 on medium settings, i have a 2100+amd and 512mb ram, so if u have a faster proc. and more ram u could prob get it to work in high mode, it was just really laggy for me.

That is the same upgrade path I took
geforce4600 to a x800xl.
I'd wait a bit on a new card...new gens coming out now. -

Yeah, but that may drop the price of the x800xt, which is much better than the XL.

Really, it's never a good time to buy any computer part.
There will always be something better, and prices dropping.
Just get the card, and enjoy the games.
