  1. hi,
I did a search for this but couldn't find anything

I'm using WinDV and when capturing video, at certain points in the tape, the audio will drop out. For example the tape I'm editing now, it drops out when after turning off my cam, and then it was turned back on to record the audio stopped. I tryed capturing it 2 times and it does it at the same point both times. But if I start the capture at the point where the audio drops out, then it captures it ok with audio.
Is there something that needs to be changed in the settings?
i have discontinuity threshhold at 0, Max avi size 1,000,000 and Every N-th Frame 1
I prefer to have one DV file captured rather than a bunch of little files.

    Thanks

  2. Also, some DV2 files I have now that have audio in them, don't have audio when I load them into Virtual Dub

  3. Ok, seems I'm having problem with WinDv and VirtualDub.

So i tryed a different version of VD (1.6.2). I load the same avi into it and now the audo works... however, when I try to append it to another file it says "This AVI file doesn't have a movie data block"

what does this mean and can I fix this?

I use WinDV quite often and I've never experienced any of the problems you've described. Are you "capturing" to Type1 or Type2 DV? I think VD 1.6 is a Beta release so there may be some problems there. If I recall correctly, 1.6.2 was the first version to readily accept Type1 DV with the audio in tact. Try upgrading to 1.6.6 and see if this solves your problem.

  5. I'm capturing to DV2 with WinDv.....
Seems like when the audio stops in the file, if I got back to that spot where the new segment starts,(when i turned the cam off and then on again) then the audio will work

The problem I have with VD, is alot of versions I can't load DV2, I get a decompression error

I nearly always use Type1 because I had some synch issues with long "captures" using Type2. Try capturing with Type1 and see if you have the same problem.
