  1. Hello again,

Allright. I have tried repeatedly to forward ports on my router but it does not seem to be working.

It is for bittorrent. I cant connect to the trackers. I know the ports needed are 6881 - 6999. In the firmware of my router, the following information is needed:

It asks me to choose an application to that is to be used (ie, ftp, http, smtp, or Domain)
    or
choose a protocol (ie. tcp, udp, gre)

Then i enter in the ports (I got that)

Then it asks if i want to a) Redirect selected protocol/application to this Home Networking modem or b)Redirect selected protocol/application to IP Address

What the heck do I choose there?

I should add that i also have a software firewall (Kerio) but have tried this port forwarding with the software fw on AND off but to no avail.

I'll put in that my modem/router is the Efficient Networks Speedstream 6520. I read the documentation that came with it and it doesnt really tell me anything.

So, any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you
    LG

You should only need to forward 1 single port - in the old days of BT, multiple ports were needed, but not anymore. If your client is requiring it, get a different client - I recommend Azureus.

Choose the TCP protocol only - UDP is starting to be used, but it's more for the searching ability Cohen is implementing.

That's the one you want - forward the port to the internal IP address of the machine on your network running the BT client.

This is how my Linksys router is setup (Both means TCP and UDP - I like supporting the searching functionality):

Allow incoming TCP connections on the BT port - does it have a rule above it that overrides it in the rule list? I use an old version of Kerio (2.1.5) and the rules are list-based - the higher in the list, the higher the priority. ie: If you add a rule to the bottom to allow BT but there is a rule above it in the list that has the same ports/settings, the higher rule will apply...

  3. This is ridiculous lol.

I tried everything before i posted this and nothing worked.

I downloaded Azeurus and installed it. Didnt work. I went into my firmware and deleted my previous port forwarding attempt. As soon as i deleted it, my torrent started downloading. GRRRR. I was using Torrent Storm before .. apparantly that might have been the problem and not the router after all.

    Ah well, live and learn.

Thanks Hill jack .. appreciate the time you took.

    LG
