G-Spot Accesses Network

For those of you who use a firewall, have you noticed that the new G-Spot v2.52 attempts to connect to a few different web sites including dogpile.com, media.fastclick.net, and headbands.com?

i realize that headbands.com is their home site, but what about the others? has anyone noticed any spyware/ adware activity associated with the new G-Spot?

any idea why it wants to connect to those sites?

I can't say I have noticed TBH ..... but then again I've only used it a couple of times. I'm pretty sure that media.fastclick.net is some sort of pop-up ads server. Dunno about dogpile.com.

Sounds like you computer may be infected. I've seen no such thing with Gspot 2.52, using beta 1 here.

according to Sygate, g-spot was trying to launch firefox to connect to those domains.

also, the stable release creates a program folder and start menu item. this beta version is launching from the extracted folder.

for the record, all subsequent launches, after the first lauch, no "hijacking" has been attempted. perhaps it was just a one-time solicitation attempt

i did not click "remember this answer" when i clicked no in the sygate pop-up.

ahhhh OK .... maybe it just loads it's homepage, as well as a pop-up ad on first run or something ..... I can't remember what it did when I first ran it

you can never be too cautious though. i still feel quite confident that G-Spot is a grade-A product, and it's creators are probably good people too.

there's certainly no harm in a little one time self-promotion. heck, they've given us this wonderful tool for free!
