    Hi,

I am looking for a new dvd player but I am having trouble choosing the right one, my requirements are as follows:

    - Divx/Xvid support (as much support as possible)
    - Built in DTS/DD decoder (as my receiver doesn't have decoders)
    - DTS/DD output through 6 channel analog
    - Progressive Scan

Here are the players I have found within my price range, max 150Eur. (I can't select the 6-channel output in the search so if you know any more please let me know ):

    - Philips DVP5500

    - Yamada MX 105
    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/90099/art/yamada/dvd-divx-player-mx-105.html
    - Sony DVP-LS785
    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/56403/art/sony/dvd-divx-player-dvp-ls785.html#fichetechnique
    - Samsung DVD-HD850 (with HD tv-out)
    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/99652/art/samsung/dvd-hd850-dvd-divx-player.html
    - Pioneer DV-585-A-K
    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/111115/art/pioneer/dv-585-a-k-dvd-divx-sacd.html

    My questions are :

    - Which one would you buy ? and why ?(I have a slight preference for the Samsung because of the futuristic HD out)

    - Does having a 6 channel audio out (mostly for SACD) also mean that the DTS and DD decoder output can be output on 6 channel analog out ?

    - Which of these has the best support (GMC + qPel) for divx/xvid ?

ty for all answers in advance....

  3. The best place to go to get an answer to your question and research it better is http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=544422&page=1&highlight=samsung+745+divx

There is presently a great interest in the Samsung 841/745 as they can be obtained very inexpensively due to close out prices.

The 841 can be modified with 745 firmware to provide Divx support.

    Good luck!
