  1. Does anyone know of any 300 disk changers that will play SVCD's??? I read about the Pioneer 300+1 changer, but it doesn't appear (from the compatibility list), at least that it will play SVCD's. I'd like to put my collection into a changer and access it whenever I want.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

    Regards,

  2. Hi,

I know for a fact the Pioneer F-727 300 disc player will not (I own one). It will play xvcds quite well. If anyone hears of a player I would really like to have one as well.

    Thanks, Jerry

  3. I wonder if this is not a conscious effort on the part of the manufacturers to specifically make their players NOT support SVCD???

  4. The Pioneer 300+1 player will play XVCD's!!!

Does XVCD (when done right), look as good as SVCD? If I read correctly, it's mpg1 vs mpg2 and XVCD can't do some of the fancier stuff like multiple audio streams, (which I never use). So, If XVCD looks as good as SVCD, I don't have a problem. Also I figure I'll be migrating over to full DVD eventually when the prices on DVD-R media come down. I've got a Pioneer A03.

XVCD can look as good as SVCD, but you can not have multiple audio streams, multiple subtitles, no interlaced MPEG-2.
Just convert to MPEG-2 480x480, VBR multipass and mux with TMPG as Video-CD (non-standard). That's all.
Hope, I did not start a new mpeg1 vs. mpeg2 debate.

  6. Thanks for the response. Is there anyway to do the encoding with CCE? It's been a while since I've been in the menu's, and I think there is a mpg1 option, but just wondering if anyone knows if it can be done. I'm kinda partial to CCE.
