Does anyone know where you can buy DVD+R's in Australia that are made by TDK, not the TDK branded CMC or Ricoh discs. Also does anyone know if the blue/grey TDK discs are all TDK or Ricoh or do they put some of the CMC discs under this label.

    Thanx.

It'll be pretty hard to find any TDK discs that are made by TDK aside from the 16x media that is made in TDK's plant in Luxembourg. Most of the 8x TDK media, even those that have TDK MIDs, are made by CMC in Taiwan. There is some production of 8x TDK media in its plants in Luxembourg and in Japan, but they are a bit rare (especially the ones made in Japan, which are scarcely available outside their home country).

Ive been buying TDK +R's in Perth for a while and havent seen or heard of their own media here for a long time....

The spindles of +R 4x have always for me been Richojpnro1 and the 8x have been cmcmage01. (Although single 8x's have been ricohjpnr02)

Both of these are excellent discs though!
I have no idea what im doing, whatsoever.

Thanx for the replies. I've noticed that TDK sell two differently priced discs, the blue ones and white ones. In my experience the blue ones are the ricoh's and the white ones the cmc's. does anyone know if this is always the case?

The Blue top 8x disc spindles are CMC, the single cases are normally Ricoh.

When you say "white" do you mean printables? I havent bought any of those but I think they are CMC EO1's. (8X)

I dont know why there is a diff in price, it they are the same code...
    50 blues = $50
    50 whites = $35
I have no idea what im doing, whatsoever.

Yeah i meant the printable ones. It does seems odd that they are the same media but have a higher price if you want blue ones. Probably just a TDK marketing ploy. Either way it seems that getting non-cmc TDK's is quite difficult now days unless i want to buy individual discs or get the 16X ones. I know a lot of people like the cmc discs but my dvd player can't read them (than again it can hardly read pressed dvd's). On that note does anyone have any experince with the quality of the 16X discs as there isn't much on them in the media section of the site.

    Give TDK Aust a call. 1300 305 835
They'll probably just say "HUH!" but no harm is trying.

I just bought a 50 spindle of the white printable -Rs . Previously I've only used Ritek G04/G05. The printable surface of the TDKs aren't as smooth as the Ritek so I'll see how they go.

The -R printable, TTG02, as some better feedback on here compared to the +R type. I think the -R uses TDK dye and equipment.

  8. Well this isn't what you looking for, but these 8x discs I usually get from melbourne -> www.rimedia.com.au, currently i had to buy some of there crappy dvd+r discs cos their other one's ran out. If you do live in melbourne, I would recommend buying them when once they come in stock (3 weeks), they advertise them as the ritek one's but are really the ricoh ones. I'll provid quality scan just to convince you how good they are.

The only way I know to get non CMC TDK's is to get the 4X spindles of 25 +R's that have the yellow/orange color package labels - not the blue/white package labels.

The discs are silver top- non prinatbles but are RICOHJPNR01.

Kmart normally have them for $20, so I grab a few when they have 15% off...
Although the price of the ones VDK_AU linked to were much better.

Thanx for the replies ppl. Yes i live in melbourne so i'll probably try those rimedia discs when they come in. Back on the topic of the TDK's, they have the same packs of discs that you said are at Kmart (the orange pack ones) at JB-HIFI for $15 although if they're actually the ricoh discs like the others is anyones guess. Just on the topic of good discs in melbourne, the verbatim dvd+r's from officeworks in melbourne are the mitsubishi ones and have very good performance in my lg 4120b drive (97-99 score with cd speed) although they cost $1.10 per disc which isn't exactly cheap. Any other recommendations for good discs in melbourne are greatly appreciated.
