Hey guys, I dont know a thing about Car audio systems but hopefully you guys can help me out.
I have a Cassette player head unit in the front, and its hooked up to a 6 Disc CD Changer in the trunk. My question is, can I place the CD Changer somewhere inside the car instead of the trunk, and if so, where would be an ideal place to put it (mount it)? I hate having to go back there everytime I feel like switching CD's.
Any help is appreciated.
By the way, the car system is Alpine TDM-7544, and the CD-Changer is CHM-S601. Not top of the line stuff, but as long as it plays CD's, I'm good.
Thanks

An option is to buy a head unit that plays MP3/WMA/AAC,I just installed one and now I can put 10 hours of music on one CD-RW.They also sell media centers for cars:a 20GB HD that you can link to your PC via wireless or USB.

Yeah, in fact I'm actually debating on just getting one. But I figured I'd give "replacing the CD-Changer" a try before I buy one just yet.

I removed my glove box & custom-mounted a Clarion 12-disc changer with fiber-optic connection in its place.
You might also vertically mount it between the front seats if you have bucket seats. If God had intended us not to masturbate he would've made our arms shorter.

So then it really doesn't matter where its at? I also thought it had to lay horizontally to even work, apparently thats not true.
Could I just, perhaps, lay it on the floor on the passangers side? Or does it have to be mounted?"The statement below is True,

As far as a manual goes, when I bought my car (used) the owner didn't include any type manual for the audio system.
I'll probably play with it over the weekend. Thanks for your help!"The statement below is True,

Does not matter where you mount CD changer. As long as you can wire it back to head unit.
Most CD Changer made so you can mount them in any dirrection. They bounce around in-car so they know it should be able to hold CDs well.

Where is the wire that leads to the CD Changer, is it pretty easy to access? Or do I have to cut that fabric and all that stuff?

Depend on you car. You have to look at it an see where it goes. Without seeing it I not can tell you. Usually, there is no cutting, you may have remove kick panels or other. Also depend on how it was install (after market or factory) and how it hooking into the head unit.
Thanks again!"The statement below is True,

Today I unmounted the CD-Changer from my trunk and was able to access the wire/cable that connects to it. I now have it located in my glovebox, so everything worked out alright. Thanks for the help guys.
