I've been searching quite a while to remove Macrovision while capturing VHS on my ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 XT, but no driver or patch or anything worked.

So i used my MiniDV cam, it's a Sony Handycam DCR-HC30, plugged the VCR in it, then used the Capture function in Adobe Premiere Pro, and it works fine.

    hope this helps someone

Is that a commercial tape or your own? A vast majority of those cams will reject commercial tapes.

If you want to be the guinea pig try this. It was a driver someone sent me a while back. No idea who sent it, no idea if it works..... If it breaks your machine I'm not responsible, use at your own risk. I have not tested it myself and the only real feedback I have gotten on it is that seemed to help a little with the green screen.

    The text with the e-mail:
Replace windows/system32 file till windows stops changing it back.

I have the newest drivers v6300, the one I sent is v6142.

    Enjoy

Unless LS updated recently those hacks don't work on the newer cards.

  5. I use my DV cam as a passthru with MV VHS tapes, and it captures just fine with WinDV/Adobe. I find as long as you arent recording on the camera, it just treats it as a generic signal

Why would you bother with ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder when DV passthrough works fine?

    Yes, that's DV passthrough.
I'm just passing to you my experience with ATI AIW capturing. Since I discovered the DV passthrough with my Sony Handycam, I've never used ATI AIW again for capturing.

You have a DV passthrough camera to use and you waste your time with capture cards?

    Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute. :P

Actually, I discovered the DV Passthrough by mistake last week when I was trying to make a Barney DVD for my daughter (She's in that Barney stage that kids go through) and was able to capture one of the first times Barney appeared on tape back in 1991 before the Barney & Friends TV show was conceived. It's weird to see Baby Bop acting in a semi-sensual way. It was a stage show. And some of the kids were like pre-teens instead of the 6-9 age they use in the TV show. Added to that, Barney's eyes are rolling all over the place too. He looks the same he's always looked on the TV show, except for the funny looking eyes.

Anyways, just thought I'd pollute the forums a bit more by throwing a little Barney trivia for everyone to enjoy. LONG LIVE BARNEY

So the old chestnut of failure in capturing with an ATI card is brought to our attention by yet again by another poster.

As I have posted before, forums are continually bringing this same problem to peoples attention.

SHAME ATI HAVEN`T ACCEPTED THE MASSIVE AGRO IT CAUSES PEOPLE PURCHASING THEIR PRODUCT.

Yet they still refuse to state this problem may occour in capturing with their product on the box or at the point of purchase. Too many people suffer this problem for ATI to ignore anymore!

CatLicker... you have not suffered alone..........I like many others have ditched the failed ATI capturing way.
