Hi. Being new to this forum the last thing I want to do is get the hair turn up on any ones back, but I have could not help but notice this. Why are people posting templates as a SVCD format when they are -- with all do respect -- closer, or are vcd resolution. I can only make referral to the templates attach to the TMPGEnc SVCD tutorial.
Being new to this editing stuff, maybe I do not see the whole picture :>no pune intended. Could some one explain this to me.
Thanks
Patrick

I went to the tools area and got some of the SxVCD and SeVCD
buy Sefy and also looked at Kobys XVCD.
I just thought they were SVCD templates anything. Am I assuming to much seeing things named similar to SVCD.
Also the SVCD template that comes with TMPGEnc was 480x480 which does not adhere to a proper aspect ratio.
Thanks

The SVCD standard calls for 480x480 resolution. If you change this you are making an xSVCD. Sefy's xSVCD template is fairly popular and he calls it SxVCD (he calls his xVCD templaet SeVCD). Also, I think that you are confusing resolution with DAR (display aspect ratio). Take a look at:
http://www.doom9.org/aspectratios.htm
for more info. The popular DAR's are 1:1 for PC, 4:3 for TV: 16:9 for film/movies. You can have these DARs at any resolution (in theory). However, because of the way most TVs are made your resolution has to be divided by 8. Also for NTSC TVs you should stick to ???x240 or ???x480, and ???x288 or ???x576 for PAL.
For NTSC the popular resolutions are 352x240, 352x480 and 480x480 (704x480 for stills, and 720x480 for DVD).
You TV ONLY has a DAR of 4:3. But I can make several different resoltions that have a DAR of 4:3. Does that help?

I apologise for the confusion with my Templates, first let me say that I never compared my Template or refered it as SVCD, as for the naming goes, the first Template I created was the SxVCD the reason was because it uses MPEG2 VBR so you burn it as Non-Standard SuperVCD.
The Second Template was the SeVCD, which is basicly identical to VCD and is even burned as a Standard VCD, the only diffrence is using VBR, so i figured it's just an enhanced VCD, so there for, eVCD, and not to confuse it with other peoples variations, I give my Templates my name infront, therefor: SxVCD and SeVCD.

No problem Sefy.
I got allot to learn -- now, if only I can get TMPGEnc to work again. Maybe tomorrow - bed time.
