Hi I have a HI8 tape which was recorded in LP mode through my friends sony hanycam, but now I can not view the same tape in my sony camcorder. It is said that tape recorded in LP mode plays only in same camcorded in which it was originally recordrd.....is that true, if yes then what is the solution. I changed the mode to LP for my handycam and then tried to play the tape, just gives me a blue screen ................guidence appriciated.

Dub from camcorder that shot the video to yours. My Hi8 doesn't even have a LP mode.

  3. LP recording is susceptible to the problem that you are facing – tape recorded in one handicam may not play in another. This could happen in SP as well but LP is more prone to this problem. This could be because of slight differences in the rotor speed between the models.

Will it be possible for you to borrow your friend’s handicam for a while till to get your transfer sorted out.
