    Hi!

I have a Gradiente DVD Player. It has a standby button, that when pressed turns a red light on.

This light is working, but when I press the button to open the tray, nothing happens. The display doesn't show anything (it used to show a messagem like "Open").

    What may have happened?
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

New batteries? Something blocking the IR window on the player?

No batteries issue, as it's plugged in the elechtrical energy, and the standby light is turned on.

SLK001: What do you mean by "IR window"?

these things are not built to well - some dvd players are lucky if they last one year now ...

nothing to fix in them -- they are a throw away item

  7. Have you try this: unplug the player for a minute or so,then plug it back in and press and hold the eject button before turn on the power (the standby button)?

I had a APEX 1500 that died by wedging the DVD out the backside of the transport and shorting out the wiring. Lots of smoke and burning. That's dying with style.

But as suggested, unplugging it for a while sometimes helps. And I think the batteries mentioned were in the remote. You also might try to open it manually in case some sensor is stuck. I wouldn't spend much effort, though. If you look in 'DVD Players' to the left, there are over 5000 models listed. Lots of choices.

  10. I have a Lite-on 2002 w/ the same problem. Strange enough, the tray opens fine if I leave a disc in the machine.

  11. perhaps a bit drastic...but maybe forcing the door open and modding the door so it can open freely, usually just have to break a piece or 2, then make a tab so you can pull it open freely, if the unit still works your in luck, otherwise you just toss the damn thing anyways.
