  2. That makes sense for those who arent in a rush to buy the new hardare just yet. When they do theyll already have a hi-def videos on hand.Id buy some. Maybe some of the other studios will do the same.

Depending on the costs of production Vs. the consumer willingness to purchase I would think hybrid type discs makes the most sense this early in the blue laser game.

Especially for those people "like me and many others with kids" who just dont have the resources to go out and blow $500 plus on a new hd-dvd or blu-ray player. Personally im gonna wait til they get all the glitches out .Probably the 3rd or 4th gen player.

I am also going to wait a bit. Not for financial reasons but simply because I want to see the first shots in the war play out, who manuevers where, and who fires the second shot (ie. recordable drives)

Did they mention price? If no price penalty, take their offer.

This "news" is at least two years old. HD DVD started with this "consumer benefit". That and lower pressing plant capital investment vs. BluRay.

The fact that hybrid HD-DVD/DVD discs would be possible is old news. Warner's promise to actually release hybrids is two months old. The "new" news here is that Warner is actually following through with their promise.

The list price of Warner HD-DVD titles will be $34.99, while the hybrids will list at $39.99. I don't know how much that will be marked down at retail.
