    hi,

will i be able to burn my 720 megas xvid/divx/avi files to one vcd disc instead of two?

*i've heared that the settings which determines the size are mostly the "bitrate" and "resolution is that true...and what the optimal settings for burnning my files to one vcd?

*what about converting the audio to mp3 and using tmpgenc to join it to the video separately maybe?...is it possible?

Probably not. VCD only lets you put about 60 mins on a CD. You can try KVCD but it may not play in some players: http://www.kvcd.net

    Shimi:

VCD has only one video bitrate 1150k. This allows for approximately 80 minutes on one 700mb mode-1 cd. VCDs are recorded mode-2 which uses less error correction and allows for approximately 800mb of video/audio on one 700mb (mode-1) cd.

Resolution does not have anything to do with how much drive or disk space the video will take up. Size is strictly bitrate multiplied by the time. However a high resolution with low video bitrate may not yield acceptable quality.

VCD is by definition a relatively low resolution (352x240 NTSC, 352x288 PAL.) You probably will not like the quality.

You should also look at the precise VCD standard: https://www.videohelp.com/vcd

http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/TMPGEnc1CD.htm guides you through the process of fitting any movie onto 1 CD in XVCD form. Be warned that your player may or may not play this.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Or you can also try CVD, with low bitrate, I was able to fit an 1h and 30m anime to 1CD, with my DVD player it play fine, but it has an uncorrect playing timer.
Of course you have to use MPEG-2 encoding.

Sure. But you'll need a standalone divx compatible player if you want to play your movies on your regular TV set.
If you want to to play them on your SAP, then try this: http://kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kvcdguide.htm
You should make a small test on a CD-RW, just to see if your player supports playing this type of video before you commit to a full encode.
