dual layer + vs -

I can never remember is the 8GB stuff now called Dual Layer or Double layer?

anyway whats the difference between the + and the - formats. I remember the differences in the single layer when that started out.

if I eventually get a DL burner once the media drops in price and I can do both, what are my advantages to one ober the other.

now what the difference and how do you choose if your recorder makes both? in the old days it wsa said that the DVD-R singles played on more set top DVD palyers.

I would choose Verbatim DL media:

With +DL there is currently more experience available. Bit-setting from +DL to DVD-ROM may help regarding compatibility. Layer break is a problem with some burning SW.

I have used 7 Verbatim +DL with no problems playing on my Toshiba, Sylvania, Sony, or even my crappy samsung that is picky with media.
