That's the most I've ever paid for a gallon of gas. You can tear up a $50 bill filling a 22 gallon tank.

Stop whining about gas prices cuz here in honolulu, hawaii we pay $2.50 a gallon for premium unleaded.
we have been paying the highest price for years now so it's about time you mainlanders caught up with us.
-
We pay shitloads in Canada today. I saw it as high as 85 cents/L (roughly 4 L/gallon).
So we pay like 3.20 or so per gallon equivalent. I miss the days when 50 was considered high.

Yeah, gas is pretty expensive here, but we're a car based community, so it's pointless to complain. I could go on a rant about price fixing and so forth, but that would touch into the "no politics" rule.
Regular unleaded is about $2.20-$2.30, right now.
At least we have the best prices in Honolulu. Prices on Maui are even worse. They're about 20 cents more, across the board. -

:P as for the comment about regular gasoline i knew you were talking about premium unleaded. none the less our state has the highest gas prices in the freeking USA. which is why i fill up at costco which is cheaper than filling up at chevron or shell oil. -
budz, can't you just walk :P
Where are u in Canada rich? I'm near Toronto, and the prices really flucuate. The East End of Toronto always has cheaper gas than where I am, for example.

Whoa, $180+ CDN/week for gas.
That's nuts.
I feel for you...maybe 80-85 cents/L isn't so bad after all.

It's finally happened. We've reached the point where a renewable resource is now cheaper than the non-renewable resource. I anticipate that, over the next few years, we'll see an increase in popularity of owning diesel vehicles ... not burning normal diesel fuels, but burning biodiesel.
The current price for biodiesel (using a lot of soybean or vegetable oils) is $1.79 per gallon US. And to make a go of it on a large scale, we only need to convince farmers to switch to soybean production. And with a ready market for biodiesel growing, it might not take much convincing. It even has the support of a well-known country celebrity:

All you need is a diesel vehicle. No conversion required. The only drawback is that, by burning soybean oil, your neighborhood will begin to smell like an oriental restaurant ... making people hungry all the time and possibly leading to an obesity epidemic. -
I HAVE been drooling over that Trubo Diesel bug....
to bad I can't afford one... -
How many acres of crop are needed to produce, say 1000 gallons?

My stepdad was a farmer and rancher. And, I can't tell you how glad I am to see the day when a farmer can beat an oil shiek at his own game. -
Not an answer to my question, but it does show something:
http://www.biodiesel.org/pdf_files/Production%20Capacity_2004.pdf
Current production capacity is 150m gallons/year with additional capacity of around 200m gallons/year.
That's 350m gallons/year - just over a gallon for every man, woman and child in the US per year.
Production will have to go up 100x for it to be viable.Regards,

Gas/Petrol is cheapest in US with the possible exception of Arabian peninsular countries. In UK it is 80p a litre, in India it is Rs. 43 a litre (nearly $1). The US gallon is 3.7854 litres so work it out and you, US guys, will realize that you are not that bad off at all.

What sort of fuel efficiency do you get on your BMW?
I am currently getting about 45-50mpg on my Almera. Not quite as high-performance as your car, mind you! -
I just worked it out - the last fill up was after 283.5 miles
51.39L = 11.3 UKG
Comes to 25mpg..... BMW claim 29mpg for the 325Ci auto
That's over a 100m round trip of which the first 8 miles is steep, twisty country lanes, the next 35 miles is dual carrigeway at 80-90 mph and the last 7 miles is city centre - then reversed for the return leg.Regards,

Notice something about that reciept. See the "SALE TOTAL" part? Notice how much space they've left? They can print a total of £999,999,999,999,999,999.99 on that reciept! Maybe NASA fill up there?
25mpg? That's what the Vauxhall Omega I used to drive got.
EDIT - If you're wondering how I worked that one out, I got into Paint and counted how many times I could copy-and-paste the "4" in...
