  3. Hi!

hehe, actually with the PV233 I download the REG fix from the site and the capture quality improved ALOT.

the thing with the card is it does a GREAT job in low motion videos but not so hot when it comes to high motion video..

    but overall good quality

  4. How does the PV 231/233 handle the "Copy Protected" VHS tapes? Can the WIN REG be set to handle this? Thank You in advance.

  5. I have no idea what u mean by "copy protect" if by that u mean "MacroVision" (that's the only video copy protection I can think of) then it have no problem with it.

I did sample capture of "Soldier" DVD and it cap with no problem and that DVD is macrovision protected. (what a waste the movie sucks they don't need macrovision it's so bad no one will want to pirate it)

the only thing I notice with the Clip is I saw wavy lines in big red areas but I think that's something with my system cause it happened with another clip from another movie and the second time I tried it there was no problem...
    probably my system.

and the answer to your question is. it can cap those movie

which realtime software MPEG1/2 encoder have the best quality in VCD.

    NANODVR2
    WINVCR2
POWERVCRII (has anyone got this to work with WINTV PCI? I got the deluxe, but the program fail when I start it)

PowerVCRII 3.0 does not do such a good job at realtime recording using their "VideoCD" template. I have to use their "Excellent" template to record, and then use TMPGENC to remove commercials and re-encode to VCD-compliant MPEGs. That results in very acceptible MPEGs.

This is using an I/O Magic PC PVR card.

    geniv:
Try changing "scene_change" to 0 instead of 1. It has helped me a lot with high motion video, even from vhs.
    Happy Holidays!

  10. I have found that NanoDVR is best for direct VCD captures. If you have the WinTV card, you can download a free version from the WinTV web site. Double the GOP lenght for better performance.

  11. spank you very much skittelsen and fravel.

I gotta try the scene change thingy.

I got the nanodvr thing from wintv but didn't know anything about gop and all that good stuff before. let me test both new setting and see how it compares..
