Can I reset a HP96/97 printer cartridge to indicate full?

Has anyone reset a HP96/97 printer cartridge to indicate a full cartridge? If so, will you please tell me how it is done. Thanks!

I've tried reinstalling the cartridge but the on screen indicator still shows empty. The Stratitec info is what I was hoping for, but they don't have instructions for my particular cartridge.

The new line of HP printers are fairly inexpensive, and work welll. Unfortunately the cartridges don't seem to last. (Must be HP's marketing strategy - to sell more cartridges.)

They mention resetting the level indicator but don't actually tell how its done.

I'll try some other search engines.
