  1. Supermediastore is advertising their 8x Prodisc DVD-R's with the media ID as MCC02RG20. It isn't! They are the ProdiscF01's and with all the trouble that I have been having with the F01's lately they are going back. Just a heads up for people that thought Prodisc had upgraded to MCC.

Most of those were from months ago.

  6. Yeah I bought these...they sandwiched the MCC within the regular Prodisc media which I thought was pretty crude.

So far they work, but the disk appear to be blemished (on top) but fine on the bottom.

Look, supermedia allows u to post comments which is pretty good of them...I posted mine because I dont like seeing a cake box with a prodisc on top and mcc in the middle.....unless someone tells me that is what they are doing.

The MCC seem to have a bit scratchy on top, near the hub is a little rough..

I will probably not order again from these folks even though they told me I get a new box...the problem is the shipping back kills the deal.

office depot has some imation (high quality ricoh and ritek) 4x...a little more expensive but the disks feel higher quality.

  7. Supermediastore is great. Prodisc is horrible horrible crap media. The average disc is better than your average CMC or low grade crap but they're horribly inconsistent with quality. One minute it's good another minute it's bad. Who wants those headaches? Just stay clear away and get TY and Ritek.

You call Prodisc media "crap" then go on to suggest Ritek ?????

Prodisc media has long been better than Ritek.
It's excellent media with a low fail rate.

I've easily used 8,000 PRODISC media (S03, F01, MCC) and had maybe 2-3% fail rate, which is excellent. Many others have too, hundreds or thousands with low to no coasters. The average fail rate for media in this class is about 5-15% or so, which is pretty decent, given the price savings over higher grade discs.

But I would agree there is better. TY, TDK, MXL, MCC, etc. That would drop you to about 1% or less fail rate. But it costs a little bit more.

I've burned about a hundred Prodisc with no coasters, great media so far. Burned well over 500 CMC with zero problems. Burned about 200 Ritek with good luck, although it was Office Depot branded, maybe better than some of their media, of which I've heard alot of issues with their G05 in particular. TY is typically excellent but I've got to admit that I've had more coasters from TY than all the other brands listed above combined...

In other words I disagree with about everything you said.

Prodisc predominately uses F01 now. You tell me where you can find 8x Prodisc still using S03 or MCC. I'm not going to rate a brand based on how good they used to be. I've had numerous problems with F01 prodisc whether they be the regular silver ones or white inkjet printables. Countless ppl across the net have complained about F01 Prodisc. I am not the only one.

I have gone through a couple hundred 4x PRODISC MCC 01RG20 discs, and only failed one! And that was due to my own fault. However, I just picked up 100 8x Prodisc MCC 02RG20 discs from Supermedia Store, and the first few burned fine, but then I failed 10 in a row in the begining seconds of the burn process. I am currently in the process of returning them. Does anyone know if this is typical of these 8x Prodiscs, or did I maybe get a bad spindle? I'm wondering if I should replace these with more Prodisc, or try something else. I have only ever used Prodisc (with the exception of a few Verbatim that had the same media code) and this is my first bad experience with them. I am using a Pioneer A08XL burner, with the latest firmware - I believe it is 1.20. Any advice is appreciated.

Some firmwares do not yet work well with MCC02RG20 codes. I had this myself on one burner, but a new firmware finally added the code. "Newest" doesn't mean anything if the MCC02RG20 is still not correctly supported.

BTC on old firmware puked on them. About 50-50 bad. Other burners fine. Actually the Verbatim 8x MCC02RG20 from my MOST RECENT purchase gave the issues. The PRODISC-made MCC02RG20 and earlier Verbatim MCC02RG20 purchases were fine.

I don't know what changed, but the newer firmware had added MCC02RG20 entries for the media, and the update fixed it.
