  1. If I Right click or rename or even just select any file with a *.mpg extension then my computer makes a thump noise from the speaker & comes up with a box saying "Explorer.exe - Application Error" & says the following:-

The instruction at "0x1d1c4dc5" referenced memory at "0x420b0606". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click On CANCEL to debug the program

If I click on either then all the icons disappear from my desktop for a few seconds & then re-appear! The only noticable difference is that the Less than symbol (<) just to the left of the icons by the clock has disappeared. Any suggestions on what mat be going on or how to fix this?

    TIA

    Matt

I would say you have run into that "I'm only being helpfull" msn problem .

This is the one that shows a thumnail of any video you have , and if you try too delete or rename them , you will get an error .

1: Disable all msn services , there is a tool called xpspy , and it allows the removal of msn from the xp system , and is highly recommended by me simply because of the latest attacks against msn have damaged many users pcs .

The damage is done too the apic controler which is part of the power managment .

What happens - audio gone , video broke .

while I have been able too restore users audio for them , because of the damage done , the video will over heat and damage and graphics card installed in a very short time .

Graphics cards should get mildly warm , but these units were hot too hold afer oly a couple of minutes . so too protect the cards , they have been placed into their box they came from , and the owners told a new motherborad needs to be sourced when they can afford it .

2: if you know anything about dos mode and how to use commands .

Hit ctrl + alt + del , you get a box

From start button on task bar , locate and run a dos box

Back in that utility window , close explorer .

In the dos box , use commands too navigate to the file , and again using do commands , rename it .

Go back to the other window , run new task , locate explorer.exe in windows folder and run it too return too normal , and you is done .

Thank dubies thats said , hope it helps ...

  3. nice & confused now??

    My cards seem fine.

XpSpy seems to do the following:-

XPSpy is your solution for recording all the keystrokes of all users on your computer. Now you have the power to record e-mails, Web sites, documents, chats, instant messages, usernames, and passwords. With our advanced stealth technology, XPSpy will not show in your application list and cannot be detected easily. Nobody knows its running, it does not show up in App List, has an anonymous filename, records all keystrokes without anyone knowing, can be set to start automatically with the computer, saves logs to an anonymous file, records passwords, Web addresses, and e-mails, and does not slow down the computer at all. Everything is recorded with a date/time stamp

Can't see how this would correct MSN problems?
