  1. Ok, so I've had the standard CIS that most people got off ebay for their R200/300's for a while now. Its working great and all, but I havent printed all that much. What I've noticed is that when the ink sits on the desk there are a few of the tubes that drain so they are almost completely clear. I think running the print head cleaner would refill them again but they empty constantly. If I lift up the ink tanks a little then the ink will start to flow back into the the few empty tubes but if I lift up too much then the cartridges start dumping ink into the printer.

    Anyone else have this problem?

Also I seem to eat through a shitload of ink now, like i've probably printed 20 cds + covers and the ink tanks are 1/4 the way down while the yellow is probably 1/3 down.

Who did you buy your CIS from ??

And here is a photo of my tanks after about 200-225 dvd's and somwhere between 75-100 full page covers being printed.

I have went through mostly black because most of what i print is mostly black

I am just refilling for the first time today, just the black.

I had a good portion of air in my tubes when i first installed it but after 2-3 head cleanings they were sucked out and never had a problem since ??

If air keep's going back into the tubes i wonder if there is an air leak somewhere ??

Have you brought this problem up in this thread ??

  4. I have the JLWSales CIS and it works great.

Since whatever system you have is dumping ink, it could be a couple of things.

First, if you have WinXP SP2, you need to be sure to download the latest Epson printer driver. Before I did, it poured ink onto the page and no amount of lightening in the software would work. After installing the latest driver, no more problem.

Second, If it is not that, then are you sure the cartridges are properly seated in the carriage? There may not be a good seal, which is causing ink to drain into the print head uncontrolled. This also would cause the ink to drain out of the tubes, since it has lost suction. You could try putting tape over the bottom opening and let the print head re-puncture the opening when you reseat the cartridge.

  5. I have the same JLWSales ink system. The prints look fine though and dont look like there is any ink being dumped. My tanks look the same as yours about (although my black is a lot higher) and I definetely havent printed 100 covers + cds or even half that. I'll definetely try putting some scotch tape on the bottom of the cartridges to try to get them to seal better though.

Originally I did run the print head a number of times and that did fill the tubes, its just then they drain out again.

  6. Well the ink situation hasnt got any better. I've probably printed about 30 or so covers and cds and my inks are all half way down now. All this ink and it gets about the same efficiency as a regular set of carts! This system has been nothing about a hassle for me unfrotunately. Seems like a waste of 120$ to me.

  7. If anyone else has any suggestions that would be great, I have tried the scotch tape deal and that didnt do anything. My inks are about 2/3 gone after 50 covers +cds or so. I was expecting to get closer to 500 not 50

I have to run the headcleaner repeatedly to get the tubes to fill. Could that be where most of my ink is going? im not sure how much ink it takes each time it does the head cleaner but it usually takes maybe 5-7 times to get the tubes filled again. Its not all the tubes though just 2 or so most of the time.
