  1. Hi,

Have been reading a lot because my Philips DVDR80 died on me the other day. I want to buy a DVD recorder with a hard drive, it has to record the audio in uncompressed PCM and of course I want the best picture quality possible. Let's say somewhere around 4-500 pounds retail price.

Any suggestions? I can only find Pioneer drives with the PCM capability when recording at the best quality mode.

Why uncompressed PCM audio? If all audio is uncompressed isn't that non-standard?
    4-500 pounds?

Just curious if you are using 1536 kbps for a stereo pair (let alone multi-channel audio), what video rate do you use?

Most of them will give you the option of using PCM audio on the XP/Fine (60 min.) setting.

I know Panasonic and JVC do.
If it were me, I'd get the JVC DR-MH30.
