widescreen to fullscreen? source aspect ratio?

If a dvd is originally a widescreen dvd is there any setting in TMPGEnc (or any program) that enables you to encode as fullscreen? which mode do you use? I recently encoded and burned a movie that was widescreen, and i dont remember what mode i used but it stretched the video not all the way to fullscreen, but it looked bad and had to trash it. If Im planning on watching the movies on my sony television what mode should i encode under source aspect ratio?

dunno..from my experience if you're trying to stretch a widescreen into a fullscreen, it's gonna look outta proportion..
