Trying to backup my VHS movies to DVD using the Sony TRV-740 Digital 8 camcorder's passthrough to my Philips DVR77. Read in various places that this strips the macrovision and allows the recording to go through. But I'm still getting the COPY PROTECT error message on the DVD recorder.
I read that taking the tape out of the camcorder will allow it to pass through. This also didn't help.
Going from the camcorder's A/V input to the iLink to the DVD recorder. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Anyone else have this working with a stand-alone DVD recorder?

I think the camera is just "passing through" the video including the copy protection signal.
The DVD recorder is probably still detecting the the macrovision signal.
I have used my Sony DV-D8 the same way to capture macrovision protected VHS,
but I recorded the DV passthrough signal into the pc
I had no problems with that.
