I have some VBR MP3s (not in videos) and I think there's something wrong with the headers (or something) - when I look at the file info in Winamp it says they are 32kbps (not VBR), but when playing them it displays bitrates of around 192-256kbps, and they sound like they are of that quality too. The main problem with this the track length of the files are predicted totally incorrectly - usually several minutes off what they're supposed to be.
Is there any way this can be fixed, of course without re-encoding? I've never had this problem with VBR MP3s before.

Try Mp3Trim http://www.mptrim.com/ . It is pretty good at fixing errors in Mp3 files.

Thanks for the link, it fixed them all! Turns out they were missing the header for the first frame, or something like that. Now they work like proper VBR MP3s!
