I was thinking of getting something like this:
    http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/Main.aspx?p=ItemDetail&item=CES10649

but I was wondering about channel availability.

Does anyone here have one, and if so, what's your experience with the channel assortment.

  5. The Pansat 2500/2700 is more popular and it's cheaper on Ebay. Check this forum out.

The cheapest way to receive FTA channels, are a KU offset dish about 1 meter with a DISEqC 1.2 motor and a skystar 2 PCI DVB card

    Satstorm is right.

I would go for the SkyStar2 PCI satellite card, it is cheaper and more versatile.

The other good card is the Vision Plus 1020a which comes with a remote
that can be installed out of the box.

SkyStar Cards do have remote too, but they sell it seperatelly and cost as about the card itself!

  9. Yeah, but remember that the things are cheap now cause they can only do Nagara1 & Dish network has changed to Nagara2, which means you can't use the old dishes for much at all..... not that you should use them to get Dish Network, but that's what most people were doing, I guess.

You can always use a phonix smartmouse and a progdvb plugin, so to use your skystar 2 with an official nagra2 card
We do this in Europe for all systems (including NDS/ Videoguard)
