  1. I'm trying to correct this Super8 film. Looks like to much blue, but when I correct the Blue, my whites get yellow-ish. Can this filmcolor be corrected on a smarter way?

Depends on what format you have it in and what program you are using for color correction.

I generally convert my videos to DV using a ADVC-100, then use VirtualDub Mod for color corrections. There are a lot of filters available with VD. I use White Balance for all around corrections or sometimes a RGB filter that lets me adjust the individual color channels. There are also VD filters tailored to film color correction. Do a Google search for 'Virtualdub filters' and you should find a lot of options.

It should look more like this:

I cheated, though. I used Photoshop, but you should be able to do the same or better with a VD filter.

  4. White balance filter in VirtualDubMPEG2:

Gradation Curves could probably do a little better but it's tedious to set up.

  5. Great, thanks guys, the custom value whitebalance works perfectly! How did you get those values btw, is it try and error?

  6. You should also darken the picture a bit from what I posted.

  7. Try the HLS filter (hue/lighghtness/saturation). I got decent results from Hue set between -5 and -10. It's difficult because you get the sky looking right and all the plants look dead, so you get the plants looking right and the sky looks too purple.

I settled with Hue -5 and Sat 29. Then I adjusted levels. I dragged black up to 10.
