Sorry if there's already a thread, but I couldn't find any good info. I just discovered this player. Is it worth buying? I want a hard drive based mp3 player, and this sounds like a dream come true. I can't find a lot of tech info, but it got good reviews. I trust you guys more though.

What video codec does this player use? Can you dump video in and it converts it to its own codec? Do you need to convert it and transfer it via usb or memory card? I read it uses Divx and/or mpeg4, right? What is the best converter for VOB or any files for that matter, to use?

In general, is the product worth the money? It's not much more than an IPOD.

Okay, their website had the owner's manual, so it cleared up the divx question, but I'd still appreciate any input from anyway who owns one, or who has used one. I looked at it at CompUSA and it is a really sweet unit!!

  4. I've got one and I'm very impressed with it. The only problem is that the resolution of video clips is restricted to 640x480 maximum. However, it comes with a small utility that if used with Virtualdub (up to v1.5.10 only though) will quickly convert your files to the required format.
Movie Audio is restricted to mp3 CBR or VBR (with the latest OS update) NO AC3 possible.
Otherwise it's a really neat device. I've stored all my music collection on this using wma 96Kb which sounds good enough on a headset and still have space for about 10 mpeg4 movies and dozens of mophun games.
I travel a lot and this has helped me while away many a dull hour in airports around the globe!

thank you so much bolinboy!! I do a lot of travelling myself, and have been looking for an mp3 player, so this seems to be a cure all. I haven't read one bad review of the device, and it is definitely my number one choice for an mp3 player, as it is not much more than a 20gig IPOD!!
