Hey guys, just a quick question regarding a vob file i sent overseas. I sent a video (vob file) to my cousin overseas on a normal CD. It was only a short video. My cousin recieved the CD but cant play the file. She has a PC with a DVD player but the computer wont play the file. My cousin lives in the USA and I live in Australia. I understand the NTSC/PAL situation but I didn't know vob files were also region specific. Is there anything she can do to see my video. Is it because I burnt it on a normal CD and not a DVD? Any help would be appreciated as my cousin would love to see her newborn relative.

she should be able to play it using dvd playing software like windvd or powerdvd or media player classic.
media player classic is free so i would download and install that one
then right click the vob file and open with media player classic -
For future reference, a VOB is not a "stand alone" video format, but part of a Video DVD, and shouldn't be used outside its context.

A vob can be played by itself as long as you have powerdvd, windvd or media player classic as mentioned by Sifaga. It can be played stand alone.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
"Can be" was not the issue. Football can be played with a tin can.
