  1. I have several AVI files that play OK using Microsoft Media Player 9.0. However these same files fail to load to ULead DVD Workshop 2, TMPGEnc, and Virtual Dub. With TMPGEnc and VD I get an error saying that a decompression codec is missing. With ULead DVDWS2, the files do not load, instead of the thumbnails, I get the striped pattern similar to when a file is non-existent in the visited directory.

As I said before, all these files load and play in MS-MP 9.0, so I presume that a codec is present to decompress and let these files play. Why is this codec not recognized by the other programs and how can this problem be solved?

    Thank you.

Use AVIcodec or Gspot to identify the codec. It will tell you if you have the right one for VD, TMPGEnc or DVDWS2 to use.
