Hello. I have a set-top DVD+RW recorder (Philips). Occasionally i'd like to put recordings from one disc onto another. For example, two episodes of a TV show that are on different disc.
I have a PC with one DVD-ROM and one writer, Is there a way to do this for free? If not which is the best software to buy? Thanks.

tmpgenc makes good software for accomplishing what you're seeking.
tmpgenc mpeg editor will allow you to extract the video (in mpeg form) from your dvd+rw discs. you can then edit (cut out the commercials and excess) from the mpegs.
tmpgenc dvd author will allow you to author a dvd, then you just burn the files to a recordable dvd.
both programs were very easy to learn for me and they work well.
there are free ways to do this, but i think you'll save yourself a lot of headaches if you purchase the software. -
The easy and free solution:
Copy the vobs on your HD. Add all of them to Rejig. Demux video, demux audio.
Load them in Cuttermaran, cut what you don't need. The program will save what you want as one video and one audio.
Author in Rejig or muxman (no menu) or Gui for dvdauthor or Dvdauthorgui (with menu)
Make an iso with Img Tool Classic. Burn with DVDDecrypter. -
Thanks for the advice. It seems like I have a choice between spending a few pounds and getting a package to do make the editing easy or using a number of freeware tools.
I'll have to check the bank balance.
