I started working with virtualdub and found quit a few things easy to figure out or try.
I am currently executing a job on a DVD to which I applied some filters. the DVD has 4 chapters.
The edited chapter is turning out to be massive in size !!!!!
How can or can one apply filters to a DVD ( sharpen it, brighten it etc.....)
and expect to be able to recopy it on a DVD (ie turn out with only 4.9 GB ?)

    I appreciate the help

If you use Full Processing Mode and you do not select a compression type then Vdub will default to uncompressed and create a very large file when you save it. If you do select a compression type then you lose quality due to the recompression. Solution.....frameserve it to your encoder as suggested above.

BTW, the size of an mpeg is not related to the size of the source file, it's the running time that's important. A 2 hour avi can be 700 MB or 24 GB depending on the compression codec.

Thanks for your help. Since I posted the first message, I have been wrestling with the fact that Virtualdub is not capturing from a VCR despite me turning off the webcam and softwares. Yet, windows media center and sony's click to dvd can see the VCR fine and I can copy using them.

    Any suggestions ??
