I have several different dual audio clips (AVI) from different sources. I am trying to play them through Window Media Player 9 using Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher. On all of them, the audio cuts out after some time. On the 20 minute clip, the audio cuts out after 4-10 seconds. On the 1.5 hour clip, the audio stops after about a minute. I can get the audio back temporarily by clicking on the position bar (which also makes the movie jump to a different location) or by switching the audio track.

I swear I have searched extensively for this topic, but I've only seen it posted once before (on a website I don't remember) with no responses! Someone please help.

All the clips are coded with AC3 to the best I can remember. I'm using XP SP2 with Windows Media Player 9, & use an ATI All-in-Wonder 9000 Pro. I have the latest Morgan Stream Switcher installed, downloaded direct from morgan-multimedia (v0.99). I've already tried uninstalling & reinstalling MMS. All single-audio clips play fine. The dual-audio clips play continuously when MMS is UNinstalled, so I'm pretty sure it's MMS or a conflict it has with something else.

Any ideas? Someone please help, I've been struggling with this for a couple months now & haven't been able to figure it out.

Could ditch MMS and try Haali's mkv/mp4/avi splitter instead.

Hi- thanks for the tip. I tried the Matroska/Haali splitter with better results, although not perfect. The audio cuts out for a split second every couple of seconds, so it basically sounds jittery. But at least it doesn't stop the audio track completely. Any other ideas/tips?

You could try mplayer or VLC. With mplayer use -aid or -alang to specify what audio stream to play.

I was hoping to stay with Windows Media, but I'll give VLC a try

If you want to find out why WMP9 doesn't work. I would start by looking into the CPU usage of both players.

Both WMP & VLC use about 10-20% CPU (on different computers - I have VLC installed on an older computer). Although the strange thing is, when I copied the clip from DVDR to my desktop & played it off the desktop, CPU jumped to 60% and the audio cut out faster.
