  1. Hi,

I've just purchased an Epson R300 printer to print to DVD.
My question is, does anyone know of any other software that can be used with this printer to print to DVD.
I find the Epson software to be a bit quirky to use when trying to adjust the image to fit to the disc (when an image is imported).
I haven't yet tried scanning direct to the Epson software - maybe this would be better.

    Any ideas folks !!??

Scanning directly to the Epson software from within it (select TWAIN) works great. I do it all the time with excellent results. Try it!

I agree, the Epson software is made for children and doesn't allow anything on the lines of advanced output options like Photoshop or Acrobat. Everytime I try to import artwork I've created to PDF or TIFF it throws off the colors. I have to try to recreate most of my art in the Epson software and it's just too basic to do. You can choose the CD/DVD tray when printing from other applications but I haven't really toyed with it.

  4. Simple really.
Create your pic in whatever software you use, save a jpg then use import to place it on the template. Resizing is a doddle. Just use the 8 black squares to shrink/enlarge the pic to fit.
Better still post in the media forum there are planty of posts in there along these lines.

  5. I find that using those 8 black squares to shrink/enlarge is a real hit and miss affair - it would be a hell of a lot easier if the image window was bigger so you could see what you were doing more clearly.

I use another type of label software for printing to normal sticky labels and this has much better control over the size of the image, but it wont allow me to print directly to DVD.

So can anyone think of any other software I can try which has the print to DVD option ?

You have opened it to full screen ?
Or click on the big + to enlarge the cd template. Draging the cover to right size should be easy, sure sometimes its a bit tricky find just where the edge of the template is due to the colour of the line being the same.

  8. OK, so I went back and had another look at the software and realised what a tit I am.

Yes I had opened it up full screen - I am actually very computer literate !!

But I now realise why I've been struggling to resize - I was trying to resize the image in Background mode and when this is selected you can only resize the image in a smaller dialogue window, thats why it was tricky.

I then tried in Picture mode and found that this allows you to resize in full screen mode. This is much better and works in a very similar manner to my other labelling software.

I am now happy again - and the moral of this story is, step back and take a look at what your doing and understand before posting. Which is how I would normally approach a problem, because I do like to figure them out for myself !

Anyway guys, thanks for your input on this matter.

  10. Hi leebo,

That's the information my link points to in my 3rd post.

I've downloaded some trial versions and testing them out now.
I'll post my findings in due course.
