  3. "There are 4 types of DVD formats: DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW. The ONLY type you should buy for making DVD-Video copies is the DVD-R format. The other formats (DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RW) are fine for burning data, but as video DVDs, they are not compatible with many devices such as many home DVD players and many Macintosh computers. Do not listen to anyone who tells you different; the fact that DVD-Rs are more compatible than DVD+Rs has been proven over and over again. Many manufacturers make DVD-Rs, but the best brand is RITEK. Supermediastore.com consistently has lower prices than any other retail or online store when it comes to RITEK DVD-Rs."

Ahhh...DVD+R with the DVD-ROM booktype is more compatible than DVD-R and Ritek is of mediocre quality.
As for your guide I'm surprised you didn't mention DVDDecrypter to rip or burn.

Neither of those statements are correct.

    This is more accurate:
DVD-R is more compatible than DVD+R, regardless of booktype.
DVD+R is not far behind and works almost as well for DVD-Video.

and Ritek is of mediocre quality.
    Agree 100%.
www.nomorecoasters.com .... several better media exist.

... But it is a very nice site design, loads fast, etc. Good job there. But pictures alone, much like text alone, never does well. You have done several things that were never explained (such as removing unneeded audio). And I wonder why anybody would want to make their PC look like a Mac. That will surely confuse somebody.

  5. Nice guide but it would have been better had you selected DVD Decrypter instead of Nero as your recomended burning software. Instead of freeware/trialware you'd be dealing strictly with freeware and you'd be burning a more compatible disc.

I would have also avoided the +/- issue altogether as it's getting to be more and more of a non-issue with the players on the market these days.

Also, unless it's getting you hordes of chicks, I'd ditch the pic in step 7.

I find DVD Decyrpter the best application for burning and it is FREE.
