  1. When i try to open a video, that's encoded in Xvid, in V-dub, it says, "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)" and goes on to say that it requires a VFW compatible codec to decompress the video. How can i fix this? thanx

DX50 isn't XviD, it's DivX 5. Now, the four CC doesn't say it all - it may still be XviD video, where the AVI has been patched with some four CC Changer, but I suggest you go install the latest DivX codec.

Should point out that XviD handles DX50. I don't have DivX installed, but I can easily open DivX 5.x encodes in VDub using XviD.

  5. I lost my original uncompressed AVI's of this movie i made so all I can do is fiddle around with my compressed version. And i do have ffdshow installed, still same error.

  6. Start -> All Programs -> XviD -> Configure Decoder

    Under "FourCC support" check DX50.

  7. Thanx Junkmalle, I got it to work. But now a new problem: What I'm doing is adding chapter titles in my video so im trying to append these segments i made to my video. Well right now i made an uncompressed video out of my xvid one (which i know i lost precision and quality) and some titles with the same frame rate as the movie and are uncompressed as well. But when i go into v-dub and try to append these segments, it says, "The segment has a different number of streams." What does this mean and how can i fix this?

The surrounding original AVI has audio, while your inserted segments do not?
