  1. Hello
I'm really quite fustrated at the moment because when I watched my burned DVD on my standalone Samsung DVD Player it occasionally stops (pauses basically) for about 10 seconds then carry's on. This happens multiple times. I'm burning using my Emprex 16 speed Dual Layer DVD Burner (latest firmware) onto Verbatim 8 speed DVD-R media. I recompressed the DVD at a lower CBR rate (not VBR as before) and it still stayed the same. The DVD works fine on computers but just not on my standalone player. I'm guessing it will be the same with all standalone players. Here is the process that I've used -
    1. Compress to M2V and AC3 files through Adobe Premiere 1.5
    2. Author DVD using DVD-Lab, although I did not add a menu. (I also tried authoring it with IFOEdit but still the same problem)
    3. Create IMG file using DVD-Lab (and sometimes IMGTool)
    4. Burn IMG file through DVD Decrypter (I also tried burning the DVD files through Nero Express but it still didn't work)
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
I think it may be the media (although there are good ratings on this website for it) but the problem is, I don't want to use other media because I have 50 blank Verbatim DVD-R's to use!!! I have had plenty of DVD-R's that have worked on my Samsung DVD player before.
    Please someone help!!

Do a cd speed transfer scan to test your burned discs,if they test ok then i would say your dvd player is at fault and chokes on theses dvds,i had a nexxtech that choked on burned dvds no matter how well they burned.

Got a philips 642 and no more problems so try another dvd player to see if that helps. If the dvds scan crappy then try a made in japan brand.

  3. It did the test ok but take a look at this Disc Quality Test from Nero CD-DVD Speed.

Do a transfer rate instead, run test /transfer rate and let it run all the way till the end.

  5. I did a transfer rate test, results below. I've relised that this is more complicated than I thought, since I upgraded my drives firmware, my pc thinks its maximum CD read speed is 8 (when its actually 42) and the max DVD write speed is 8 (when its actually 16). I'm almost certain I used the correct firmware. Could this be causing the 'stopping' problem on my burnt DVD's?

According to the graphs your burn is less than 500mb and its better to do a full burn and do a pi/pif scan at 4x instead of max, also the media is probably poor so buy made in japan brand instead.
